Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Neku ("we", "our", or "us"), operated by Neku, based in Greece. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Neku Is

Neku is a writing app for fiction writers. It provides a chapter-based editor, a visual storyboard for story planning, and tools to share your work.

2. Your Account

To use Neku you must sign in with a Google account or an email and password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and any password you create. You must be at least 16 years old to use Neku.

You may only create one account per person. You may not share your account with others.

3. Your Content

You own everything you write in Neku. We do not claim any rights over your stories, notes, or any other content you create.

You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights.

When you enable a public link for a story, you grant Neku a limited license to serve that content to anyone who visits the URL. You can make a story private again at any time, after which the public link will stop working and no one will be able to access it.

By sharing a story publicly, you confirm that you own or have the rights to all of its content, and that it does not defame any real, identifiable person, infringe intellectual property, violate anyone's privacy, or contain unlawful material.

Neku does not actively monitor or moderate the content of stories, including those shared publicly. We are not responsible for content that users choose to publish. If you encounter content that you believe violates these Terms or applicable law, please contact us at hi@neku.io and we will review it.

We may disable or remove any publicly shared story at our sole discretion, with or without notice, including content we believe is unlawful, infringes someone's rights, or violates these Terms. Where appropriate, we may revert a story to private rather than delete it.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Neku for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the service
  • Attempt to circumvent any subscription or usage limits
  • Share your account or access tokens with others

You also agree not to publish or publicly share content that:

  • Is unlawful, including child sexual abuse material, terrorist or violent extremist content, or credible threats of violence
  • Defames a real, identifiable person or violates their privacy
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of others

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Subscription and Billing

Neku offers free and paid plans. Paid plans are billed through Polar, who acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions. This means your payment contract is with Polar, and Polar is responsible for processing your payment and issuing any refunds.

Free trial

New accounts receive a 30-day free trial with access to all features. No payment details are required to start your trial. At the end of the trial period, your account automatically continues on the free plan — you will not be charged. Features exclusive to paid plans will no longer be accessible until you upgrade.

Paid plans

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time via the billing portal in your account settings
  • If you delete your account, your active subscription will be cancelled automatically
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by law

Pricing is displayed at the point of purchase and may change with reasonable notice.

6. Availability

We aim to keep Neku available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or changes to the service at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant downtime where possible.

7. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. This will permanently delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Any public story links you have shared will immediately stop working and become inaccessible.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity. If your account is suspended or terminated, any public story links associated with your account will also stop working immediately.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Neku is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss of data, loss of revenue, or indirect damages arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer under EU law.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Greek courts. However, if you are a consumer residing in another country, you may also have the right to bring a claim in your local courts and benefit from mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.

As an EU consumer, you also have access to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.

10. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply in full.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email of any significant changes. Continued use of Neku after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
